Covering a third of Scotland, the Highland Council area has a rich heritage which makes a valuable contribution to the character of the region. The historic environment complements the breathtaking landscapes and is significant to the distinctive identity and quality of life in the Highlands. The Council recognises the contribution of the historic environment to social, educational and economic development.

Based at the Councils Headquarters in Inverness, you will manage and maintain the Highland Councils Historic Environment Record (HER) system and the associated online HER, which is the primary means of delivering historic environment information to Council staff and a wide range of external parties. As one of a team of four you will also provide information and advice on the preservation, protection, promotion and interpretation of the historic environment within the Highland area.

You will be self-motivated, committed, and enthusiastic, with strong team working skills, as well as an ability to take initiative, prioritise, meet deadlines and work under pressure. You should have an honours degree in Archaeology, Building Recording/Conservation or a similar subject.

You will have proven experience in the use and development of Historic Environment Records and excellent database and GIS skills.

Prior experience of exeGesISs HBSMR software would be a distinct advantage.
